A 1 year old toddler has sadly died after her adoptive father accidentally left her in the backseat of his car whilst he was dropping his other child off to a nursery.
The heartbreaking incident which occurred in East Nashville, has led to police investigation after the young infant sadly passed away in hospital on Wednesday evening.
It is understood the baby who has not yet been named died after she was left in the car for a number of hours in temperatures that ranged between 25-31C.
According to reports in the US, the infant was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt Hospital despite the best efforts of medical personnel.
The news of the infant’s death was confirmed via tweet from Nashville Police, which said the following: “1-year-old girl dies after being left in a car seat all day in a pickup truck parked at the family’s East Nashville home.”
“Adoptive father reportedly forgot about the child after dropping off her sibling at daycare.”
“Adoptive mother found the girl at Virginia Ave home this evening. She was pronounced deceased upon arrival at Vanderbilt Hospital.
“Investigation will continue through the night.”
