Tragic: Tributes pour in for American family who were killed in Wexford crash

Last night’s car crash in Wexford truly is a shockingly sad state of affairs.

Irish born 75-yr-old Lily Ryan-Alexander and her 75-yr-old husband Doug, were travelling with their two sons, Doug Jnr, 52, and 49-yr-old Steven Alexander when their car collided with a lorry around 6:30pm last evening.

The family lived in Oakland, Illinois in the US, and were driving a rented BMW saloon car that they had hired at Shannon Airport.

They were making their way to the home of Mrs Alexander’s sister, Winnie Keevey, in Lacken, New Ross, where her wake was being held at the time of the crash.

Gardai confirm that all four passengers were confirmed dead at the scene of the crash which occured on the main New Ross to Wexford road at around 6.30pm yesterday evening.

It’s understood that the Department of Foreign Affairs has been in touch with their family in America.
