A transatlantic flight travelling from the US to Amsterdam was diverted to Shannon airport earlier today.
It was reported that a crew member on board the United flight UA-946 had fallen sick and the alarm was raised. It is believed the captain was unable to continue flying and the co-captain took control of the aircraft.
National Ambulance Service paramedics were on standby for the aircraft upon landing and the crew member was taken to University Hospital Limerick.
