Tributes have poured in for Katera Barker who sadly died after her adoptive father accidentally left her in the backseat of his car while he was leaving his other child to a playschool.
It’s understood the tragedy occurred on Wednesday evening after Katera was rushed to hosptial in East Nashville.
Police have opened an investigation where they think she girl was left in the car for a number of hours in temperatures that ranged between 25-31C.
According to reports in the US, the infant was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt Hospital despite the best efforts of medical personnel.
The news of the infant’s death was confirmed via tweet from Nashville Police, which said the following: “1-year-old girl dies after being left in a car seat all day in a pickup truck parked at the family’s East Nashville home.”
“Adoptive father reportedly forgot about the child after dropping off her sibling at daycare.”
“Adoptive mother found the girl at Virginia Ave home this evening. She was pronounced deceased upon arrival at Vanderbilt Hospital.
“Investigation will continue through the night.”
