Tributes pour in for well-known doctor who sadly died in a boating accident over the weekend




A number of Tributes have poured in for a well-known doctor who sadly died in a boating accident over the weekend.

Professor Aongus Curran, a leading head and neck surgeon at St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin and academic at University College Dublin, tragically lost his life when his boat upturned on Lough Corrib, Co Galway on Friday.

Prof Curran a father-of-five, aged in his 50s, was discovered near Camillaun Island, after he set off from near Oughterard.

Leading the tributes Health minister Simon Harris said: “I was very sorry to hear today that Professor Curran had passed away.

“He was an enormously respected surgeon, and a valued teacher to medical students at UCD. I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family, loved ones and his colleagues.”
