Trump agrees to meet with Kim Jong-un as North Korea say they are committed to denuclearisation

There was a major announcement in Washington DC in the past few hours as President Trump has confirmed he will meet North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un.

In announcement made shortly after midnight (Irish time) the White House confirmed that both leaders will meet this coming May to hold key talks regarding the missile crisis in the Korean peninsula.

The news which has been welcomed by leaders and political figures all over the world, comes after South Korea’s security advisor Chung Eui Yong held major talks with North Korean officials in Pyongyang earlier this week.

It is believed that Eui Yong informed President Trump that Kim has agreed to a meeting, whilst he was visiting the White House on Thursday.

According to reports coming out of The White House, the North Korean leader will refrain from any more nuclear missile testing and that he is committed to denuclearisation.

The latest development comes after the two high profile political figures traded insults and threats over North Korea’s continued testing of nuclear weapons, over the past 12 months.

Speaking about the meeting President Trump hailed the development as a great progress on the North Korea issue.
