There has been controversy in the US over the unveiling of an 8-foot-tall statue of the goat-headed winged, hermaphrodite deity ‘Baphomet’ in front the State Capital Building in Little Rock, Arkansas US News reports.
The statue was erected by the Satanic Temple to protest the existing monument of the 10 Commandments.
Over 150 people attended the unveiling which the Satanic Temple claims is an exercise in the right to free speech and freedom of religion.
Baphomet or The Goat of Mendes is often associated with Satan and is considered a figure of deification or adoration in the Satanic Temple which has sought to erect similar monuments in other public areas in the United States.
