Two aircraft carriers scheduled to join the US fleet currently deployed in the Pacific, ahead of President Trump’s visit to East Asia

Two aircraft carriers, the USS Theodore Roosevelt and USS Nimitz, along with their battle groups, will soon join the US 7th Fleet currently deployed in the Pacific Ocean. The USS Ronald Reagan strike group is already operating in the area, just off the Korean Peninsula.

The announcement comes just ahead of US President Donald Trump’s trip to East Asia, and amidst heightened military tensions in the region.

The presence of two additional aircraft carriers will signify a considerable strenghtening of the US military might in such a sensitive area of the world.

The US’ 7th Fleet is now within striking distance of the rogue state of North Korea.
