Gardai have confirmed that two bodies of a man and a woman have been recovered from the River Lee in Cork last night.
They also say that deceased are believed to be homeless although neither have been indentified at this time. Gardaí, the Coast Guard and Naval Service divers were all called to the scene at approximately 6pm yesterday evening.
A spokesperson from Anglesea Street Garda station released a statement saying that the bodies had been recovered by the Port of Cork sign on Custom House Quay in the city.
