The U.S Supreme Court has ruled overwhelmingly that bakery in the state of Colorado has a religious right to refuse to bake a wedding cake for a Gay Wedding.

The court voted 7-2, with even 2 liberal judges agreeing that the Colorado state panel violated baker’s religious rights when it found that baker Jack Phillips violated the state’s anti-discrimination.

Baker Jack Phillips refused to bake a cake for gay couple David Mullins and Charlie Craig in 2012, who some claim targeted a well known Christian bakery to make a point.

This marks a watershed victory for religious freedom, free speech and the rights of business owners in the United States.

In Ireland a similar situation arose when a Christian owned bakery in Northern Ireland was approached by a Homosexual Rights Activist requested a cake with the slogan “Support Gay Marriage” but was refused.

The bakery was forced to make the cake but then later a court ruled that Asher’s Bakery were forced to act against their religious beliefs.

In the U.S bakery’s and other establishments owned by Christians who refuse to cater to Gay Weddings have been subject to ruthless hate campaigns and religious freedom activists have pointed out that no such hate is directed to towards Muslim owned businesses who voice the same convictions.
