42-yr-old Jo Cox has sadly died after being shot twice and stabbed on the street in Birstall in West Yorkshire.
Ms Cox was elected as the MP for the Batley and Spen constituency at the general election in 2015 and has two children.
Eyewitness Hichem Ben Abdallah, was nearby and told Sky News he saw a sort of wrestling match and then someone in a white hat run off
He saw a man wearing a “dirty white baseball cap” who started “jostling with somebody” who appeared to be trying to stop him.
The Labour politician was transferred by air to hospital but she was pronounced dead a short time ago.
A 52-yr-old man has been arrested and is in police custody.
