Update: Finglas Garda station re-opens after suspect device is declared safe by army explosives unit

It has been confirmed in the past hour that Finglas Garda Station has reopened after a suspicious device was declared safe by army explosive experts.

According to TV3 News the station has now re-opened after the suspicious device which was thought to be pipe bomb was declared safe.

The Garda station was evacuated by Gardaí shortly after 3pm this afternoon when a member of the public arrived in the station with a suspicious package which prompted the emergency.

It is understood the army unit arrived within a matter of minutes and cordoned off the station and the surrounding area.
