The Metropolitan Police have announced that they have the situation at Trafalgar Square under control after they had earlier received reports of a suspicious package in Duncannon Street.
They immediately evacuated Trafalgar Sq and offices nearby. They had also closed off Charing Cross underground tube station.
Specialist officers were called in to investigate and the entire square was cleared and a cordone set up around the historic square.
Charing Cross station was also closed as a precaution and office workers are being told to stay inside.
The Metropolitan police have said that they have thankfully made the area safe.
