Update: Suspect who stabbed a man to death walking on the street in Dundalk is an Egyptian migrant – two more people are badly injured

It’s now understood that the man who stabber multiple people in Dundalk Co. Louth this morning, who is said to be aged 18, is an Egyptian migrant.

The victim is said to be an Asian man while the other two badly injured victims are both Irish men.

It’s not yet known whether the attacks are random or whether the victims were known to the man – but things are not looking good as armed police remain throughout the northeast town.

Here’s what we know so far:

There’s a major investigation under way in Dundalk, Co. Louth today after gardai respond to a multiple stabbing incidents in the town.

Around 9am this morning, gardai were called to the Avenue Road area of the town where it’s understood a man stabbed a another man walking down the road.

It’s now known that an Egyptian refugee was the man who stabbed the man on the Avenue road.

A number of locals claim he was man aged in 18 with a middle eastern look.

Gardai disarmed the man but tragically his victim died from stab injuries.

Another two people were stabbed with three areas closed off, Inner Relief Road, Seatown and the Avenue Road

Gardai claim they do not know the motive for the attack but have the suspect in custody.
