More details are emerging as to the crisis unfolding in Egypt.
The hijacked A380 flight AS181 carrying 82 people was taken over by one armed man who diverted the plan off its internal course to Cairo.
The flight landed in Larnaca airport at 7:50am Irish time.
Authorities have made contact with the man and managed to negotiate the release of 20 passengers so far – believed to be women and children.
The pilot has told them a passenger has taken over the plane and that he is wearing a suicide belt.
