An ambulance burst into flames at approximately 2pm at the emergency department area of Naas general hospital.
One male patient has been confirmed dead after being trapped in the burning ambulance.
One paramedic has also been seriously injured. Gardai and the HSE are currently conducting technical examinations on the ambulance and area.
The emergency department of the hospital remains closed.
