Police in the Finnish city of Turku have confirmed this evening that at least two people have been and several others have been seriously injured following a stabbing attack which occurred at two marketplaces close to each other in the city center earlier.
It is understood police shot one of the perpetrators in the leg shortly after the attacks took place in Kauppatori(Central Market Square), and the Puutori Market Square.
Local media reports state that two people were killed and at least eight people were injured in the brutal attack.
It is not yet known if the attack is terror related or what was the motivation behind the brutal attack.
Meanwhile police have said they have heightened security at Helsinki Airport in the wake of the incident.
