Uproar as Blanchardstown mega-Mosque to go ahead regardless of concerns of local residents and politicians

Despite massive opposition from locals the planned Mega-Mosque and Islamic Centre near Corduff, Blanchardstown will go ahead regardless.

Residents and local politicians have stated that the Mosque and school already in the area should be sufficient for the Muslim population in the locality.

The project will include a three story Islamic centre, a large Mosque and a private Islamic school and is expected to cost tens of millions of euros.

The massive development will also boast a halal restaurant, sports centre and football pitch.

It will serve as a major centre for the Muslim population in North Dublin and far beyond and residents have expressed concern about noise pollution from the call to prayer and the traffic disruption as it is located in proximity to an already bustling college campus.

Furthermore the funding of this multimillion euro project has caused concern but the man behind the project, Dr Taufiq al-Sattar, who launched this project in memory of his wife and three children who were killed in an arson attack in Leicester say he is receiving funding from the Muslim community in England as well as from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
