Utterly disgraceful: 2018 was the worst year on record for hospital overcrowding

In what is comparable to third world countries, the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) has claimed that 2018 was the worst year on record for hospital overcrowding.

It’s really not too surprising considering the horrific waiting lists that have seen people languish on trolleys around the country.

Minister for Health Simon Harris was obviously too preoccupied with abortion in 2018, so too the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, as they appear to not give a damn about the hundreds of thousands of Irish people who depend on a functional health service.

108,227 patients went without hospital beds in 2018, that’s an increase of almost 10% on 2017 records – which was a record at the time.

According to the INMO, 2018’s months with the highest figures were January with 12,201, February with 10,772 and March with 10,511.
