The Minister for Health Leo Varadkar has confirmed that the Government are considering introducing new hygiene standards at Tattoo and Piercing parlours.
Mr Varadkar has said the proposals are being considered because there is always a potential risk for infection and other injuries to those who wish to get a piercing or a tattoo. The Health Minister also said he drafted up a set of guidelines which would see customers fill in consent forms and be warned of complications in advance. The Government also say they want to ban the use anaesthetic injections to ease the pain.
It is believed the public will have from now to January to have their say on the new rules before they are brought in.
