After revealing in last months budget that the vast majority of people currently receiving social welfare payments will receive a €5 increase, the Minister for Social Protection has confirmed today that all increases will be implemented by March the 17th.
It is understood that pensioners will be the first to receive the increase on March the 10th, whilst those on disability, jobseekers and invalidity allowance will receive the extra €5 by St Patrick’s day.
Speaking about the increase Mr Varadkar said: “They will on the 10th of March with the payment of pensions and all other payments to be paid in the days after that, and all payments to be made before St Patrick’s Day.”
“Some of the other measures, such as the changes for the disregard for lone parents will come in affect in January.”
