Varadkar: “Sinn Fein is the greatest threat to Irish democracy and we the ‘United Ireland’ party will expose them for who they are”

The front runner to become Fine Gael’s leader Leo Varadkar has taken a clean swipe at Sinn Fein on his campaign trail today saying he will expose the party for what they are if he becomes Enda Kenny’s successor.

Mr Varadkar who is trying to convince the remaining Fine Gael delegates to pledge their support for him claimed that his party would become the ‘United Ireland’ party and he also vowed to expose Sinn Fein to younger voters, claiming the party is the greatest threat to our democracy.

Mr Varadkar said: “I am not holding out an olive branch to Sinn Féin at all, I believe that Sinn Féin remains the greatest threat to our democracy and to the prosperity of this State.”

“I see that Sinn Féin is performing very well with voters under 35 and I am very concerned about that, part of my mission as leader if I have that opportunity is to take Sinn Féin on and to expose them as the party that they are.”
