Volkswagen have issued a recall for a number of vehicles due to a faulty head rest.

The recall applies to a number of 121 vehicles including the Golf, Caddy, Passat and Touran.

In a statement posted Competition and Consumer Protection Commission the company said the following: “Volkswagen are carrying out a voluntary safety recall campaign for certain Caddy, Golf, Passat, and Touran passenger vehicles.

“The vehicles effected were produced between 22/02/2018 and 27/03/2018.

“The established safety risk is that a defective fastening of the crash-active headrest in the vehicles affected may cause the front part of the headrest not to become locked in the final position.”

“In the event of an accident, the headrest may become detached from the back of the seat, increasing the risk of injury to the person occupying the seat.”

“This recall effects 121 vehicles in the Republic of Ireland.”

“Volkswagen will be writing directly to the registered vehicle owners and instructing them to take their vehicles to a nominated garage where necessary repairs/replacement of parts will be carried out.”

“Volkswagen Ireland can be contacted on 1850 81 2761 or by email [email protected]
