Campaigner Vicky Phelan has called on the Minister for Health Simon Harris to put more funding into the CervicalCheck programme.
According to The Irish Daily Mail, Ms Phelan issued the call as reports suggests that there is a 20 week wait for smear test results.
Ms Phelan who highlighted scandal last year, also told the paper that the Health Minister must sort out issues with resources.
Although she admitted that Minister Harris’s plan to offer a second free smear tests was the right move, she did say more resources are needed.
She added women affected by the scandal need to be prioritised.
