Minister for Health Simon Harris has done the right thing for once, and ensured that life-saving drug Okambi will be made available to cystic fibrosis patients from May.
The Okambi issue has made headlines several times over the last few months, as the HSE nonchalantly disregarded ethics and put financial costs before patients’ lives.
The drug has been proved to greatly improve the quality of cystic fibrosis patients.
Months of popular revolt against the HSE finally forced the minister’s hand. Okambi will be available for patients from next month.
