Visitor restrictions implemented at Tallaght Hospital in order to stop the spread of a potentially lethal superbug

Management at Tallaght Hospital have announced today that a visitor restriction has been placed at the hospital in order to stop the spread of a potentially lethal superbug.

The hospital has said they have banned all visits by children along with a limit imposed for one patient visitor. The restrictions come after an outbreak of Carbapenem Resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE), back in August.

The hospital say the outbreak has already seen the closure of at least two wards after a number of patients tested positive for the bug.

Management the restrictions are being implemented as part of a “routine” tracking measures.
