Vladimir Putin has secured a further six years in government, further cementing his grip on power in Russia.
The outcome of the election was never in doubt, as the other seven candidates did not pose any significant threat to Putin’s rule.
The Russian leader will now remain in office until at least 2024, when he will be 71 years of age.
