Vote for me! General Election looks imminent as both Fine Gael and Fianna Fail are at loggerheads this afternoon




It really does look like there’s going to be a snap General Election before Christmas.

The options are simple, really. Snap General Election before Christmas, a General Election in early January – or, the Tanaiste Frances Fitzgerald forced to resign against her wishes and the Taoiseach’s wishes.

Fianna Fail are seemingly unwilling to budge on their position that the government will have to fall if Fitzgerald doesn’t tend her resignation immediately.

They believe her position is untenable after she allegedly lied to the Dail and mislead it in the process.

Meanwhile Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has insisted he has full confidence in Frances Fitzgerald and will not fire her.

The two main parties are currently meeting in the Dail.
