Warning issued as Storm Aileen – the first named storm of the year – is set to hit Ireland today





Met Éireann have issued a status yellow alert for many parts of the country as Storm Aileen is due to hit at 2pm today.

The first named storm of the year will bring strong gusts of 90 to 110km per hour, heavy downpours and thunder.

Dublin, Wexford, Wicklow, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford will be the counties most affected. The weather warning is in place until Midnight tonight.
