Scam warning: Apple users warned as a number of customers have been contacted by hackers looking to obtain personal information




Apple have issued a warning to its customers after they were alerted to yet another scam that has seen hundreds of people being contacted to hand over their icloud details in order to secure their account after it was allegedly breached.

The latest scam that has seen customers across the world being contacted, is believed to be piggyback scam separate from the current icloud scam organised by a group of Turkish hackers.

The sophisticated scam which see’s Apple icloud​ holders being played a recording informing them of the breach comes after another hack just last week which seen The Turkish Crime Family hacker group holding the company to ransom after they claimed that has access to over 300 million icloud accounts.

According to leading publication MacWorld a number of Apple users have been hit by the latest scam which claims their account has been breached. The publication say a number of users have been tricked into handing over their personal details by a hacker who claims to be an operator for the global giant.

The news of the latest scam has also prompted a number of users to take to social media to inform others. Many say they have received up to five phone calls from the group who then look for passwords, credit card and bank details before informing their breach has been rectified.

Apple have since been made aware of both scams and have issued a warning to its customers not to hand over personal information by phone or online as none of its operators would contact them for personal information, the company have also urged it’s customers to report any suspicious activity within their accounts to them immediately.
