Motorists are being advised to take extra care on the roads this morning as temperatures plummeted to -2c from 2am last night.
The resulting sharp dip in temperatures gave a very hard ground frost and has left many unsalted roads treacherous to drive on until they thaw out later on today.
Temperatures will rise to around 4c by lunchtime but the AA have advised people to take extra care when out and about this morning.
