Whales are pretty impressive creatures especially when they are filmed in action by wildlife professionals, but one amateur photographer may have literally blown them all out of the water after he captured amazing footage showing a massive 40 tonne whale jumping out of the water.
The footage which has since gone viral is made all the more special given that whales are not necessarily known to leave the ocean in such spectacular fashion.
In what can be only described as a rare phenomenon the spectacular footage was caught by Craig Capehart, a scuba diver who was sitting in a “rubber duck” (inflatable boat) off the coast of Mbotyi.
The footage which last almost 5 minutes shows the 40 tonne whale leaping thought the air before Capehart’s very own eyes.
Speaking about the event Capehart said: “It seems that never before has a recording been made of an adult humpback whale leaping entirely out of the water! ”
“Dolphins and even Great White Sharks have been seen flying out of the water, but this is a first for an adult humpback whale!”
