Still going on about water bills, new Chief Whip Regina Doherty has today said that the bills won’t ‘magically disappear’, and that all TDs who have not paid should do so at once.
It is publicly known what two Independent Alliance TDs who have just joined the government, Finian McGrath and John Halligan, have not paid their water bills.
Speaking about this perceived outrage, Ms. Doherty said ” The bills are not going to magically disappear and I would advise people whether they’re elected or not elected to pay”.
She added “and if and when we pass a new piece of legislation to suspend the law it doesn’t diminish the fact that it is the law and those outstanding bills need to be paid.”
