A 22 year old Waterford man who admits raping a 15-year-old girl at a house party in Waterford in 2012 has been sentenced to seven years in prison with four suspended.
The 22 year old man appeared at the Central Criminal Court, the court was told that the man in question accepts his legal and moral responsibility and is said to be disgusted by his actions.
Mr Justice Paul Carney suspended the last four years of a seven year term on condition that the man stay away from the victim.
It is understood that Justice Carney has backdated the sentence to March 11 of this year and ordered the man to undergo 18 months post release supervision.
