We all may be hoping for a white Christmas this year to complete the festive mood, but we will be treated to something rarer this month as December’s full moon also known as a “Full Cold Moon,” will fall on Christmas Day for the first time since 1977.
NASA say on Friday, December 25, the Christmas Day full moon which is something of a rarity will be at it’s peak around 6:11 AM Christmas morning. The December moon is called a full cold moon because December nights are some of the longest of the year, so the full moon gets longer to shine, and temperatures often get colder.
It is believed the next Christmas Day full moon won’t occur again until 2034, so make sure to check it out.
