According to reports this evening it is understood that staff at Bus Eireann are looking for a pay increase that is similar to the pay rise Dublin Bus workers received earlier this month.
The news of the demands come ahead of planned stoppages by staff at the company. However it was revealed last month that management had no intentions in offering pay increase’s but instead were looking to cut costs by discontinuing their National Expressway service which would result in the loss of 150 jobs.
Although it seems the company’s plans have not been welcomed by employees, who have instead issued an open letter to the Transport Minister Shane Ross asking for the same increase believed in the region 11%, citing that all Bus Eireann employees should be treated equally in comparison to their Dublin Bus colleagues.
Reports are also suggesting that employee’s at the company are hoping that the possibility of state intervention could push through a deal.
