A former neurosurgeon turned professor has recently claimed that so-called whiplash injuries are nothing more than a myth that are made up to make money.
The leading professor Dr Charles Marks, of UCC, has claimed that the made up spinal trauma which is responsible for over 80% of insurance claims is nothing more that a myth created by the medical profession in order to create big business.
Speaking at a lecture recently Dr Marks said whiplash was just one of many injuries that have been “created by the medical profession in the second half of the 20th century.”
Dr Marks further explained: “Whiplash in certain (but not all) affluent countries is big business, a multi-billion euro gravy train for the medical profession, victims and lawyers.”
