A group of hackers calling themselves Lizard Squad have claimed responsibility for bringing down Facebook and Instagram this morning. The little-known hackers claimed they were behind the attack on Twitter.
Lizard Squad has previously attacked Sony, Malaysia Airlines and Microsoft. Facebook has not confirmed if it believes Lizard Squad was responsible for the outage.
There is concern that the hackers may release personal information and it has promised to release emails it secured from its hack of the Malaysia Airlines website.
