New movie ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ is set to blast into cinemas in December 2016 and fans are hoping to see supervillain Darth Vader on the big screen once more.
‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ was a huge hit last year and hopes are high that this new story set during the time of the original films will capture that magic too.
It is the first of the planned stand-alone movies, and is about a group of resistance fighters risking their lives to get the plans for the Death Star. The director is Gareth Edwards who made his name with ‘Monsters’ and ‘Godzilla’. It stars Mads Mikkelsen, Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker and Alan Tudyk who found fame in TV series ‘Firefly’ that has a cult following.
The recently released teaser trailer promises a lot, including a hooded figure who may or may not be Darth Vader. It seems all too likely that Darth Vader will appear in the film. In ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ we got to see his damaged helmet but in this there is the unique chance to bring him back in all his glory.
The casting of Felicity Jones as the lead Jyn Erso in the film seems a little too alike the casting of Rea in The Force Awakens, and has led many to speculate that this character is in fact Rea’s mother, but this theory has been rejected.
“This is a rebellion isnt it? I rebel,” says her character in the trailer that offers plenty of action. We have Imperial walkers firing at ground troops and plenty of explosions. Forest Whitaker crops up too and growls out a few words.
“It goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know,” Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said in a previous statement about the film.
