There was some sad news in the world of entertainment as the last surviving adult actor of the original Willy Wonka movie, Diana Swole passed away.
Swole who is best remembered for playing Charlie’s mum, sadly passed away on Friday at the age of 88.
In a brief statement released over the weekend a representative of the actress said the following: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of beloved friend, family member and actress Diana Sowle at the age of 88.”
“Diana passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, October 19, with family by her side.”
“She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be dearly missed.”
Swale who appeared in the 1971 hit movie opposite Gene Wilder, was well respected amongst the acting community as she appeared in a number of theatre productions in the years following the movie.
