Winter is finally here, with sub-zero temperatures forecast for most nights this week and the possibility of a new winter storm hitting Ireland

Ireland is getting its first taste of winter this year, as temperatures plummet just in time for Halloween.

Sunday night is expected to be rather chilly, with temperatures sinking to -3C in some areas, and widespread frost formation.

Bank Holiday Monday will see good sunny spells, with temperatures rising to 9C at best. Tuesday will see a similar weather pattern.

Met Eireann has warned that Storm Deirdre may hit our shores later in the week, probably around Thursday evening, but that forecast is still uncertain.
