The World Health Organisation has warned that addiction to gaming is a type of mental disorder.
Gaming disorder has officially been classified as a mental health condition by the WHO and the organization has added it to is official International Classification of Diseases.
This new designation of gaming addiction as a mental health issue will mean that insurance companies may now move to cover gaming-related mental issues and that medical and mental health experts will have to refocus their work towards providing care to chronic gamers.
WHO has stated on its official webpage however, that only a small portion of those involved in gaming can be considered as disordered.
