Worst storm in decades wreaks havoc in Brisbane

Stormy Weather

Nature displayed its power over Australia’s third largest city yesterday.

Storm winds of up to 140km/h raged through Brisbane, felling trees, shattering window panes, bringing down power lines, flipping cars upside down, and injuring a dozen people. Up to 90,000 homes were left blacked out.

This was the worst storm to hit Brisbane since 1985.

The army had to be called in to remove debris and fallen trees from the streets.
