Asthmatics and people who suffer with lung conditions are being advised to take extra care this week as bitterly cold conditions are expected to grip the country.
According to RSVP Live the warning which has been issued by the HSE and a number of heath care professionals nationwide, comes ahead of the expected Siberian blast which will see temperatures drop well below zero during the course of the week.
In a public warning medical professionals are urging those who are asthmatic or have been diagnosed with any other lung related illnesses to wrap up warm by wearing the appropriate clothing whilst going outdoors.
Patients are also being advised to take their required medications and to keep their reliever inhalers on them whilst venturing out in the cold weather.
It is thought the warning comes as the bitterly cold conditions could potentially cause breathing difficulties for some patients as the dry air can cause inflammation to the lungs.
