It’s time to put on the extra warm jumpers because winter is finally here. Temperatures are dropping to an extra cold -5c over the weekend.
Met Eireann have predicted snow showers on high ground as well as icy and sleet conditions nationwide.
Siobhan Ryan of Met Eireann said:
“December 2015 was one of the mildest and wettest on record, we can now expect much colder and much drier weather throughout the country.”
It will be bright with some sunny spells but showers especially in western and northern areas will turn wintery.
Expect cold and frosty conditions overnight with overnight lows of 0 to -5 degrees Celsius with a severe frost in most areas.
