Writing on the wall for Kenny as 53% of Irish voters believe he should step down – whilst 27% believe he should be replaced by Leo Varadkar




According to a new poll conducted by the Sunday Independent, the Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar is the current favourite to become the next Taoiseach.

The poll which was conducted over the weekend found that 27% of the Irish voting believed that Mr Varadkar should replace the faltering Enda Kenny.

Mr Varadkar has a significant lead over his nearest rival the Minister for Housing Simon Coveney, who has 23% of the public support.

Meanwhile Mr Vardakar also has a healthy lead over Mr Coveney amongst Fine Gael supporters, with a 37% to 27% approval rating.

The poll also found that 53% of the Irish voting public believe current Taoiseach and Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny should vacate his role.
