A car crash on the Limerick-Cork road has claimed the lives of a man and woman in their 70s tonight.
The accident happened at 5:10pm on the N20 between Buttevant and Mallow.
Reports suggest that one car veered across the road into another.
Gardai and emergency services were on the scene withint minutes and the road is said to be still closed off.
The couple both suffered multiple injuries in the accident and both unfortunately died before they reached the Cork University Hospital (CUH).
A woman driving a second car was hurt in the collision, but her injuries are understood to not be life-threatening.
Diversions are in place and motorists have been urged to avoid the area if possible as lengthy delays are expected.
