A man in the US has been charged with child abandonment after his young daughter strangled her brother with a seatbelt after being left alone in a car.
The man Adrian Dreshuan Middleton, 26, has been charged after the 6-year-old girl strangled her brother after she became angry when he wouldn’t stop crying.
According to reports in the US, the two children were left on their own when their father went to shop at a thrift shop in Houston, Texas.
Is believed that the young wrapped the seat belt around her little brother after he became upset whilst playing.
Police investigating the case say they arrested Middleton after it became apparent that he spent over an hour in the store whilst leaving the children unsupervised.
Middleton who has claimed that he regularly checked on the children from the store window was charged after CCTV footage proved that his statement was false.
Police say they found out what had happened after the little girl confessed to what she had done, but she believed that her brother was only asleep.
Middleton who tried to revive his son also told police that he had put on the air conditioning and a movie before leaving the children.
It is understood the girl involved will not face prosecution.
