A man understood to be in his 20s has been left in a critical condition after being assaulted in Derry city today.
The victim was attacked on Waterloo St. just after 1am this mornin. He was rushed to hospital, where he is receiving critical care.
A 22-year-old man was arrested a short time later in connection with the incident.
