

A man has been arrested after two gardai were shot in Dublin this evening.
The incident occurred shortly after 7:30pm at Whitechapel Grove in Blanchardstown. The gardai were called to a house in the area and were shot when they arrived. They were shot in the leg and arm and treated immediately at the scene before being taken to Connolly Memorial Hospital.
The scene was closed off with emergency officers and trained negotiators were brought in. They spoke to a man in the house who had a gun before he left after a two hour standoff.
The man in his forties has been arrested and is currently on the Blanchardstown Guard Station under Section 30 of the State Crimes Act.
